WOMEN'S HEALTH OUTREACH TELL-A-FRIEND PROGRAM
Early breast cancer detection saves women’s lives. Yet many women age 40 or older have never had a mammogram, and many more do not follow the American Cancer Society recommendation of having a mammogram every year. These women need encouragement and support to get screened. Tell-A-Friend programs give this kind of support.
Through the Tell-A-Friend program, volunteers contact and encourage friends and family to get a mammogram. This special one-on-one outreach by someone she knows may convince a woman to get a mammogram, or it may bring her closer to making that decision in the future.
And getting an annual check-up is easier than ever before, through Alaska’s Breast and Cervical Health Program, which covers the cost of annual exams and mammograms for qualifying women.
Tell-A-Friend is a great way to let women know that getting a health checkup is EASY and FREE.
If you would like to volunteer in the Tell-A- Friend Program, and make a difference in the life of a friend, please contact:
